Shelly Walker

Board Member

Shelly was born and raised in the Pacific Northwest. She graduated from Washington State University with a BA in Sociology, Human Resources Emphasis. Shelly and Josh married in 1995, after he was commissioned in the Army. Their first duty station took them to Fort Campbell, KY, where Shelly started out at LEED Staffing Services. There, Shelly started at the front desk, and eventually became an HR Coordinator. She worked all aspects of hiring, benefits, payroll, marketing, and business development.

Throughout her 25 years as an Army wife, Shelly volunteered in the Family Support Groups, which turned into Family Readiness Groups. Shelly was responsible for keeping families informed of resources that could help them and benefits they may not have known about. She marketed units and functions through fliers, newsletters, and digital media. Her official positions included 1SFG(A) Group FRG Treasurer, Company FRG Leader, Battalion FRG Leader, and Battalion FRG Advisor. Shelly also advised the hiring boards for two FRSAs (Family Readiness Support Assistants).

In October 2012, Shelly was honored to be nominated, and to receive the Colonel Martha (Maggie) Raye Volunteer Award for Outstanding Lifetime Civilian Service.

Shelly also served in the capacity of Sunday School teacher, and Team Mom for various football and lacrosse teams. She and Josh have two sons, who are continuing the family’s call to serve others as Army ROTC Cadets.
